hey book besties

Mallory, Darlene (Mom), Brittany, and Sarah

Sisters, sisters, there were never such (book) devoted sisters. We’re Brittany & Mallory, 2/3 of the best trio of blended family sisters. Braggy? Nah, we’re just very very lucky.

After far too many texts back and forth about our TBRs, reviews, and recipes we thought we should be sharing with more than each other. We can’t wait to share our snacks, current reads, favorite book boyfriends, the best FMC’s, and our favorite drinks with you! Get out your charcuterie boards, it’s time to escape.

Did we just become best friends? We hope so!

Brittany

Hi! I’m the middle sister.

I’ve always been a big reader. Growing up, our mom couldn’t take me to the library enough to satisfy all the books I wanted to read. Luckily she was also a middle school teacher with a large collection of books. She introduced me to some of my favorites like The Giver, The Westing Game, and The Girl Who Owned a City. In fact, I loved reading so much that instead of being grounded I would get my beloved books taken away.

Playing outside to me meant reading a book outside... or looking for an entrance to Narnia. I used to dress up Mallory and drag her along with “supplies” for our adventure (I’m a planner!) until we ran into giant spiders in the woods and I decided climbing into closets and wardrobes was a better option.

I like to think my interests are more varied now as an adult - I enjoy cooking, travel, yoga, walking my dogs - but my first love is always books. Being around books relaxes me, being around other readers makes me happy.

I strongly prefer physical books. I love the feel, the smell, turning the pages, using bookmarks, and treating them like the friends they are. I’ve had a Kindle for years now but mostly use it for travel and only recently discovered a love of audiobooks. I prefer romance or fantasy for audiobooks as it’s fun to hear the back and forth dialogue and the action scenes in fantasy books.

Fantasy is probably my favorite genre but I also love sci-fi, mysteries, thrillers, romance, historical fiction, literary fiction, and biographies/autobiographies.

Hi! I’m the baby sister. Brittany & Sarah call me Little One, despite my being the tallest. All three of us love reading, snacks, and drinks on a patio.

Two of us particularly love Fantasy & Romance books but we might rope big sis in sometimes for snack discussions (sorry Sarah, I’m pre-volunteering you).

I’m definitely the baby in the stereotypical way. I’ve been told I could make friends with a brick wall, and I loveeee to chat. My love of reading started in childhood too with many of the same books. I crushed the Princess Diaries series in middle & high school. As an adult I avoided reading for a long time because I run my own fashion business, Mallory Kate Style, and once I pick up a book I CANNOT put it down. Like physically cannot.

Enter a trip with my husband to Cancun for our 10th anniversary in 2023. I packed the Murder of Mr. Wickham and A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR). My obsession took over. I bought the ACOTAR box set & raced through it. I did NOT get any work done. Then someone told me I could listen to audiobooks on Libby.

I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts previously. So now I do half audiobooks & half podcasts. I found out recently that I have ADHD and now understand why my brain thrives on doing two things at once. Now it’s obvious why I like to listen to stories while I do more repetitive work like sewing.🧵 🎧
